I am writing about writers who killed themselves because his manuscripts were rejected by publishers and envy (Posthumous). That club of dead writers who revolutionized the literature. Some of them died anonymous in the conquest of dream, in a medium (human zoo) more horrible than the war: A Confederacy of Dunces.
My next novel is about writers breaking on the vicissitudes of his own drama.
I do not tell more by now.

SPANISH LITERARY BOOM IN AMAZON- THE THRILLER

The thriller novel in Spanish and literary Boom in Amazon

Important tagline:  Readers of all countries should look to the new international thriller fashion, like novels in Spanish.

Progressively, thriller novels in Spanish are reaching the best selling scores. There are many titles and growing demand on Amazon.com and its branches around the world, including Spain. This genre includes the suspense, historical novel, plot of mystery and detective, action, fantasy, thriller, also the story of love and the everyday drama with its fascinating stories.  Generally the novel itself it becomes an exciting reading. The arguments abound: mystery, secrets, fictitious theories, conspiracies, espionage, revelations, as well as evocations of the past, history, religion and facets of all kinds of strange drama. The film industry draws from this genre, which is not commercial at all. Many novels have interesting intellectual and social proposals, original storylines and new literary forms and often they become a challenge if they contradict the theories and traditional prejudices.

Also the digital platforms are editing all categories of novel with success (romance, drama, erotica, adventure, testimony, etc.) The book history is in a new stage, and Amazon and other digital publishing (Bubok, Barnes and Noble , Alexandria Library and others), offer unseen opportunities. Social networking, Facebook, Google Plus, blogs, forums all over the internet is being filled by unknown authors and works of quality, and this phenomenon can no longer be ignored. Soon we will do a critical essay on the achievements of the novel created from the digital publishing and self publishing as well as the editorial barriers that produce the phenomenon Stoner and the A Confederacy of Dunces.

The thriller is a reflection point. The success of publications in English is amazing; in Spanish is less significant. However, the new independent authors in Spanish with their novelty are opening step, increase fans and some begin to sell in the competitive US market. Why the most translated and bestselling authors must always be Americans and British, when we have so many talented Hispanic writers and a historically brilliant literature of Spain?

The answer is the lack of publicity and opportunities for freelance writers in Spanish, marginalized from the elitist commodification of the book and besides ignored in reviews. On the other side is the formal overused style in front of  modern trends with its versatile, attractive, banal or deep language, as perceived in the digital experiments, whether or not trade literature. Even many readers prefer to read the books by Kindle novices, fresh, bold and original, sometimes immature, instead of the traditional sentimental works, with exceptions, of course.We already have many talents in the new wave: Fernando Trujillo, Blanca Miosi, Armando Añel, Valentina Truneanu, Fernando Gamboa, Mario Escobar, Nievas, Rodera, García Muñoz. Forgive this incomplete list of authors, until the next publication.

The change is so great that even the post (comments on the wall) in Facebook and the writings in personal web pages often are better curiosities than the stellar books displayed in street stores. This reality is leading to new literary wave that, regardless its mistakes and kind of greatness, is gaining a new generation of readers. In that boom, thriller continues to provide popular publications because they are fresh, original and exciting themes. A comparative study would allow understanding about the popularity key of the novel that is bought on Amazon, written by unknown authors of all ages and why the ranking of preference is not only the most affordable price. As conclusion: a more open market to the new talents would be enough for not reading stories of love and vampires in another language. We would have many Dan Brown, J. K. Rowling and Stephen King in Spanish among the best sellers.

Recently I was in the Guadalajara International Book Fair  (Mexico),  a wonderful spectacle. Long lines, thousands of people were attending to buy books. Also many people asked for authors and titles of Amazon.

A problem: Books with prices too expensive, old titles, not many sales. Then people go to download books from Amazon.

La novela thriller en español y el boom literario en Amazon

(Primaria aproximación)

Progresivamente, las novelas tipo thriller en español están alcanzando elevados topes de preferencia. Hay muchos títulos y una creciente demanda en Amazon.com y en sus filiales por el mundo, incluye a España. Este género abarca el suspense, la novela histórica, el argumento de misterio y policíaco, la acción, la fantasía, la novela negra, pero también la trama de amor y el drama cotidiano con sus apasionantes claves. Es en general la novela en sí cuando se torna una excitante lectura. Abundan los argumentos de misterio, secretos, teorías ficticias, conspiraciones, espionaje, revelaciones, pero también las evocaciones del pasado, la historia, la religión y facetas de todo tipo de drama extraño. El cine se nutre de este género, que no es comercial del todo. Muchas novelas presentan interesantes propuestas intelectuales y sociales, tramas originales y nuevas formas literarias. Algunas constituyen un desafío cuando contradicen las teorías y prejuicios tradicionales de lo políticaente correcto.

También las plataformas digitales están editando todas las categorías de novela con mucho éxito (romance, drama, erotismo, aventura, testimonio, etc.) La historia del libro está en una nueva etapa, y Amazon y otras editoriales digitales (Bubok, Barnes and Noble, Alexandria Library y otras), ofrecen oportunidades nunca vistas. Las redes sociales, Facebook, Google Plus, los blogs, los foros, todo el Internet se está llenando de autores desconocidos y de obras de primera calidad, y este fenómeno ya no puede ser ignorado. La novelística surgida de las editoriales digitales y la autoedición ya resquebraja las barreras que producen los tristes fenómenos Stoner y La conjura de los necios.

El caso del thriller es de lo más interesante. El éxito de las publicaciones en inglés es asombroso, tras el efecto Amanda Hocking y John Locke; en castellano es menos significativo. No obstante, los nuevos autores independientes en español se van abriendo paso, aumentan los fans y algunos comienzan a vender en el competitivo mercado norteamericano.

¿Por qué los más vendidos y traducidos tienen que ser casi siempre norteamericanos y británicos, cuando hay tantos escritores hispanos talentosos y una literatura en castellano históricamente brillante?

La respuesta podría ser la escasa publicidad y oportunidades que reciben los escritores hispanos independientes, marginados de  la mercantilización elitista del libro y de la raquítica crítica investigativa. Se añade la predominante oferta “más de lo mismo” frente a las tendencias modernas con su atractivo lenguaje polifacético, que va de lo ligero a lo profundo, como se percibe en los experimentos digitales y en los frutos de la sinergia, sea o no literatura comercial. Tenemos ya muchos talentos arando en la nueva ola: Fernando Trujillo, Blanca Miosi, Armando Añel, Valentina Truneanu, Fernando Gamboa, Mario Escobar, Nievas, Rodera o García Muñoz. Perdonen esta lista incompleta, pero en una próxima publicación mencionaré no solo a los más vendidos, sino también a los geniales que se venden o conocen menos.

Muchos lectores prefieren leer esta literatura “amazónica” fresca, atrevida y original, a veces inmadura, de los noveles Kindle, a los desgastados librotes sentimentales de los famosos, con excepciones, claro está. Hace poco recorrí la Feria Internacional del Libro en Guadalajara, todo un espectáculo. Largas filas de mexicanos y extranjeros y, ¡qué sorpresa! La gente preguntando por autores y títulos que solo se publican en Amazon. Otra sorpresa fue ver los best sellers mosqueados, quizás por sus inasequibles precios, mientras que los antiguos clásicos se vendían bien. El cambio es de tal magnitud que hasta los posts (comentarios en el muro) de Facebook y lo escrito en las páginas web personales con frecuencia superan en curiosidad formal a los libros estelares de las estanterías. Esta es la realidad que está llevando a la nueva ola literaria, con sus errores y grandezas, a ganarse una nueva generación de lectores. En ese boom, el thriller sigue aportando publicaciones que gustan porque son temas apasionantes y originales. Si hubiese una buena crítica comparativa capaz de investigar los aspectos renovadores de la novela que se compra en Amazon, escrita por autores desconocidos de todas las edades y el por qué de la preferencia, seguro abriría las puertas de par en par a los nuevos talentos y sería suficiente para no tener que leer historias de amor y de vampiros en otro idioma. Nosotros tendríamos muchos Dan Brown, J.K. Rowling, Patterson, Wolfe, Green y Stephen King en español, y entre los más vendidos.

Hace poco tiempo estuve en la Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara, todo un espectáculo. Las largas filas, miles de personas concurrían a comprar libros, y muchos preguntaban por autores y títulos que solo se publican en Amazon. Las ofertas de libros con precios demasiado caros significaron no tantas ventas. Había un solitario espacio dedicado a los libros electrónicos.

El nuevo impulso de la novela de suspense español

Para la novelística y ciertos historiadores, sobre todo los de habla inglesa, España parece menos interesante, sobre todo en temas relacionados con secretos y conspiraciones. Y la tendencia de los lectores en castellano que gustan del tema es a leer novelas traducidas del inglés, de donde provienen los códigos da Vinci, Harry Potter y los vampiros crepusculares. Esas novelas llamadas thriller (suspense) son las preferidas.Pero el género ha sido poco explotado por los novelistas del mundo hispano. Esa tendencia podría cambiar. Finalmente aparece una novela (casi un testimonio) que coloca el centro del mundo en España, dando otro impulso a la novela negra y el thriller español: es "Cornatel, el secreto español", del escritor cubano-estadounidense, radicado en México, Antonio Ramos.

El tema de la resurreccion de Cristo articulado a la trama de una conspiración internacional en torno al Castillo de Cornatel, no solo es una amena lectura sino que revela los secretos de situaciones reales ocurridas en España y el mundo. El autor nos explica así su obra:

“Esto es un thriller con una historia moderna que se remonta a las sombras del pasado, pero no tiene ninguna fantasía caprichosa. Lo que sucedió en Cornatel fue como arrancar el velo a la pesadilla de la historia. El peligro acecha dondequiera. Si crees en la fantasía, puedes salvarte. Cornatel con su niebla rota es un castillo mágico, sin dudas. España toda es un gran misterio. El debate está planteado, tal vez debemos hacernos esta pregunta: ¿Por qué las editoriales españolas no abren sus puertas a los novelistas que cultivan este género y propician la competencia con la novelística en otro idioma? Recomiendo este necesario debate.

The New momentum of Spanish thriller

For the novelistic and some historians, especially English speaking, Spain seems less interesting, especially on issues related to secrets and conspiracies. And the trend in Castilian readers who like the issue is to read novels translated from English, such as the Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter saga and Twilight vampires. Those thriller novels (suspense) are the favorites. This genre little has been exploited by novelists of the Hispanic world. That trend could change.

Finally a novel (almost a testimony) that places the center of the world in Spain, giving a further boost to the Spanish thriller appears:  "Cornatel, the Spanish Secret", by the Cuban-American writer who lives in Mexico, Antonio Ramos.

The theme of the resurrection of Christ hinged to the frame of an international conspiracy around Castle of Cornatel is not only an enjoyable read, also reveals the secrets of real situations that occurred in Spain and the world.

The author explains that his work:

"This is a thriller with a modern history dating back to the shadows of the past, but has no a whimsical fantasy. What happened in Cornatel was like pulling the veil to the nightmare of history. Danger lurks everywhere. If you believe in fantasy, you can save. Cornatel with her broken fog is a magical castle, no doubt. All Spain is a great mystery. The debate is raised, perhaps we should ask ourselves this question: Why do the Spanish publishers do not open their doors to the novelists who cultivate this genre and foster competition in the novel in another language? I recommend this necessary debate.
